At Townsley Painted Portraits we have two finishes. We like to say that our Venetian Canvas is our top of the line finish, it's so good you could say it's the best that it could be. It would satisfy any viewer or client. However, we have one that's even better: The Masterpiece Painting.
The Venetian Canvas is the almost photographic finish for our art pieces. it is captured traditionally at your sitting and then has all the artwork done by hand to give it a look that is soft, subtle and magical yet genuine and true to life. It is then transferred to a piece of natural fiber canvas and has a luminous glaze applied that brings out the depth in the piece, accenting all the shadows and highlights. This glazing also serves to seal the art piece and make it archival (all our canvases and frames follow strict museum archival procedures and contain no acids which can ruin artwork).
- Our Masterpiece Painting has even a more subtle look as it has an additional level of hand artwork that renders it as a painting. This takes many more hours of both rendering the brush strokes, and painting by hand. They are made of pigment printed directly to a linen material, which has less tooth than the canvas finish. This results in a smoother and more forgiving texture, with more depth in the shadows and more detail in the highlights. These art pieces are glazed by hand with brush stroked acrylic to subtly show the fine strokes in the painting, and at the same time seals in the pigment.
We never limit the amount of time the artist can spend on either of these finishes as we make them the very best we possibly can.
Where Classic Is Always In Style.
Each heirloom portrait can be finished with a Museum Classic Frame.
Museum Classic Frames are historically accurate and individually built in the state of California. Choosing only the most luxurious of finishes for your generational masterpiece, each frame is meticulously finished by hand by master craftsmen with decades of experience.
We choose only the best hand-selected gold leaf imported from Germany and Italy to finish each of our pieces. Additionally, each frame is individually hand antiqued with a proprietary patina finish, giving the frame and portrait the distinctly rich look and feel of a timeless museum masterpiece.
Our frames have closed corners that provide absolutely no visible seams - the mark of exceptional, premium quality frames.
