Did you know that coordinating everyone's wardrobe is listed as one of the top three stress factors when it comes to portrait sessions?
Our studio aims to not only provide you with undeniably gorgeous masterpieces; we also aim to make the entire portrait experience enjoyable, pleasant and above all - memorable. To help alleviate many of what can stress couples or families out when preparing for a portrait sitting, we've compiled our expertise into our Session Styles.
Each of our Session Styles is dedicated to providing you with everything you'll need in order to craft well-groomed, gorgeous attire for everyone without having to spend all your time thinking, wondering or second-guessing what is or isn't appropriate.
If you're choosing to book an In-Studio Contemporary portrait sitting, these attire tips will serve you best:
In-Studio Contemporary sessions are conducted with a crisp, classic white backdrop and 'classy-casual' attire has held the most success for a final product worthy of becoming your new masterpiece.
Aim for your outfits to be well-fitting, colorful, monochrome or shades of similar colors (but no patterns, please) and with long sleeves. A helpful tip is to lay out the outfits next to one another and confirm that they are all cohesive; the entire wardrobe should be coordinated but not identical.
- Crisp, button-down shirts are most flattering
- Slacks or dress pants - sure
- Well-groomed jeans - absolutely
- Well-shaved or maintained facial hair
- Covered shoulders and sleeves are recommended
- For best visual results, dresses should have a min. 3/4 sleeve
- Clean, colorful shirts or blouses
- Well-groomed hairstyles
YOUR AIM SHOULD BE FOR CASUAL ATTIRE THAT'S FUN, BUT IMPRESSIONABLE. THINK CLASSY ENOUGH FOR A DINNER NIGHT OUT WITH YOUR BOSS, BUT STILL COMFORTABLE ENOUGH TO ENJOY YOURSELF.
UNACCEPTABLE ATTIRE INCLUDES:
- Ripped or torn jeans
- Visible logos
- Tennis shoes
- Uncovered off-the-shoulder, sleeveless or strapless dresses or shirts for anyone except girls under 10.
- Ungroomed facial hair
- PLAIDS or overly-busy patterns
- Brand, new haircuts*
*For haircuts, we recommend if you'd like a new haircut to please schedule it a minimum of 3-5 days in advance of your portrait session.
OUR CLOTHING POLICY
Our studio reserves the right not to conduct a portrait sitting if the attire does not cohesively suit the visual guidelines of your requested session. If the clothing is inappropriate, our first aim will be to fix the clothing on-set. If we are unable to fix the clothing on-site, we will re-schedule for a later date.
